What is Reiki, and how does energy healing work?
Gentle, non-invasive, and profoundly effective — even for skeptics. Here is what Reiki is, what it is not, and why so many people find their way to it.
Reiki is one of those practices that people tend to arrive at sideways. They were not looking for energy healing. They were looking for relief from something — grief, exhaustion, a sadness that would not shift — and someone suggested they try it. And then something happened that they could not explain but could not deny.
What Reiki is
Reiki is a hands-on and hands-off energy healing practice that works with the body's energetic field. The practitioner channels healing energy through their hands, placed gently on or near the body, and the energy flows where it is most needed. It is gentle, non-invasive, and deeply restorative.
Two lineages at The Garden
Usui Reiki — the classical lineage, developed in Japan by Mikao Usui. Steady, neutral, and intelligent. The energy moves to wherever the body needs it most.
Magdalene Reiki — a tradition rooted in the sacred feminine, devotion, and heart-centered healing. More intuitive, prayer-based, and emotionally oriented. Particularly powerful for grief, heartbreak, and transition.
What people feel
Warmth. Tingling. Waves of emotion. Deep stillness. A sense of being held. Some people see colors or images. Others simply fall into rest so deep they lose track of time. Many people cry — not from sadness, but from the relief of something finally being met.
Do you have to believe in it?
No. Many people come with curiosity or outright skepticism and still experience profound shifts. All that is asked is an openness to receive. The experience speaks for itself.
At The Garden
Reiki is offered as a 1:1 private session in a carefully prepared space within the rooftop garden. Sessions last 60 to 75 minutes. Drink plenty of water afterwards and be gentle with yourself — emotional processing may continue after the session.
